Did Lehi’s colony travel after arriving in America?

Thomas R. Valletta

“‘As we journeyed in the wilderness.’ I understand this to mean that as soon as Lehi and his company had taken care of their first harvest they continued their journey ‘in the wilderness,’ which in this case would mean the bench land, or the mountain regions” (Reynolds and Sjodahl, Commentary on the Book of Mormon, 189). Traveling after their first arrival leaves open the likely possibility that they could have lived in various lands and areas in the Americas before settling in the land of their first inheritance.
