Why do some deny the revelations and gifts of God?

Thomas R. Valletta

“Whoever rejects the revelations and gifts of God—the miracles and signs and wonders—does so in either absolute ignorance of the holy scriptures or in absolute rebellion and defiance against the order of things in the Lord’s kingdom. If there is a God, and if he is a possessor of all knowledge and all power, and if we are his children, then it is inconceivable that he would not want to reveal himself and manifest his power among his offspring. If such things are no more, if they have in some way been done away, then it is because of the lack of faith on the part of those on earth” (McConkie et al., Doctrinal Commentary, 4:254).
